Vision

• BEAE wishes to see a society in which every citizen has equal access to quality basic education that enables him/her to develop her/his potential capacity and actively participate in national development.

Mission

• To contribute to the creation of an enabling environment for NGOs involved in basic education;

• To serve as a platform of NGOs through the sharing of information &experiences, undertaking research and advocacy;

• To build the capacity of members through training, technical and professional support.

Objective

• Promote innovative and affordable basic education programs;

• Enhance the educational activities of NGOs;

• Strengthen and promote collaborative efforts among NGOs and Gov and communities;

• Facilitate exchange of information;

• Contribute to the best possible application of the education policy; and

• Support building and strengthening the capacity of its member organizations.

Basic Education Association in Ethiopia

Basic Education Association in Ethiopia (BEAE) is a network / coalition of indigenous Non-Governmental Organizations working on basic education.

It serves as a forum for network members by encouraging the exchange of ideas, information and experience on education.

BEAE's activities are spread through out the country.

Establishment

In 1997 SC/USA organized a series of Non-Formal Education Meetings (NEM) followed by development of Memorandum of Association (MOA).

In April 1999 the draft MOA was reviewed and the NEM meeting was transformed into Basic Education Network in Ethiopia (BEN-E).

In January 2004 It was registered as Basic Education Association in Ethiopia (BEA-E) with an overall objective of serving as a forum for NGOs working on basic education to exchange and share ideas and information, expertise and experiences and act collectively for the realization of the goal of basic education in Ethiopia.
