The key strategic objectives of BEN-E are:

• Becoming a strong network of its members for efficient use of human and material resources;
• Effectively promoting the efforts of members in the expansion of quality basic education in the country;
• Promoting stronger and broader partnership and linkage among all actors such as NGOs, government, the private Sector, and other civil society organizations to enhance the expansion of quality basic education.
• Building the capacity of member organizations to enable them to better implement and sustain effective basic education programs/projects;
• Promoting and contributing to the achievement of equity in the access to education for disadvantaged groups in society such as girls, people with special education needs;
• Monitoring and regularly informing the public and policy makers on the challenges and problems encountered in the efforts to address the issues of access, equity and quality in the provisions of basic education in Ethiopia; and
• Generating, documenting and disseminating information, best practices and innovative approaches for promoting quality basic education.
