The Network is governed and managed by:

•  A General Assembly;

•  Executive Committee (7 board members);

•  Secretariat.

The secretariat is managed by a Director and currently has the following units: Policy, Research and Advocacy Unit, Program Plan and Training Unit, Communication and Resource Development Unit, and Administration and Finance Unit.

Frequency of Membership and Governance meetings:

•  The General Assembly is called for once a year;

•  The Executive Committee meets once every quarter year;

Members' participation:

•  Participation in meetings;

•  Financial contributions to administrative and other expenses;

•  Other supports (technical, information, etc.).

Membership

Currently BEAE has:

•  45 member organizations;

•  14 partner International Non-Government Organizations.

Criteria for Membership:

The major criteria for membership are:

• NGOs working in education;
• Official registration document;
• Operational agreement;
• Interest in the network.

Categories of membership:

• Full (regular) members : NGOs, faith-based institutions, umbrella organizations and other collective groups that are registered with the government and are working on or providing support to basic education;
• Partners: International Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, and Bilateral Organizations that support the promotion of ABE in Ethiopia ;
• Honorary members: renown personalities and other individuals who wish to support the objectives of BEA-E;
