Basic Education Association in Ethiopia (BEA-E) is a network Non-Government Organizations working on Alternative Basic Education (ABE). It is a coalition of organizations working for a common purpose and to accomplish a broad range of goals that reach beyond the capacity of any individual member organization. Since establishing a coalition of NGOs working on ABE was of paramount importance, BEA-E was established as a coalition of NGOs working on ABE in Ethiopia .

BEA-E has also linkage to other networks both locally and internationally. BEA-E is working with Poverty Action Network in Ethiopia (PANE) in activities related to the implementation of the Poverty Reduction Strategic Plan of Ethiopia.

BEA-E is an active member of the Africa Network Campaign on Education For All (ANCEFA /http://www.ancefa.org/) which is an umbrella network of 26 coalitions across Africa, with its regional secretariat office in Dakar , Senegal . In addition to the regional secretariat, ANCEFA works through sub-regional networks (West Africa East Africa, Southern Africa and Central Africa ) with focal points in each of the sub-regions. The sub-regions are led by moderators, a position which is held by an individual coalition for a period of two years on rotational basis.

BEA-E is also member of the Global Campaign on Education (GCE /www.campaignforeducation.org/).
